The Democratic Change Party (CD) has had a new home since Monday, January 19, which will be its official headquarters at 44 Este Street, Bella Vista. This achievement, long desired by its supporters, has become a reality under the presidency of former deputy Yanibel Abrego. The building, painted in a pure white, has the approval and conformity of the Electoral Tribunal, which was present with its three magistrates: Narciso Arellano, Alfredo Juncá, and Luis Guerra. Furthermore, it preserves the history it represents for over 100 years, a historical icon that preserves what the famous Lyon House was, respecting the guidelines of Panamanian Cultural Heritage. Yanibel, who won the presidency on November 18, 2024, expressed that a great effort was made to obtain its own headquarters, which has spacious training halls and luxury offices. "It symbolizes that when there is order, there is a future," reiterated the former lawmaker from Chiriquí. "Democratic Change is standing, as a family and with the same dream," said Abrego at the formal key delivery ceremony, adding that everything was done with the mission of building a future for the country and preparing for what is to come because for 2029 it is necessary to be prepared, and that mission is one: "to govern again" and to the place that a Party like CD should be. Currently, the CD collective is the third largest in the country with 272,441 registered members, and Abrego focuses on participation and national tours with training and preparation from the grassroots level to seek the presidency in 2029. In her speech, Abrego did not fail to insist that everything seen today in this new headquarters, the CD's house, is because the Party has healthy finances and owes nothing to anyone, not even to the Comptroller's Office. "Everything is in order and what we have is ours, even the little bus, screens, equipment is from the Party," she reiterated. The political event was also attended by the deputies: Manuel Cohen, Orlando Carrasquilla, Shirley Castañeda, Rafael Buchanan, Carlos Afú, Luis Camacho, Nelson Jackson, Isaac Mosquera, as well as advisor Ricardo Fábrega, among others.
