This is what residents of sector 4 of Samaria, in the San Miguelito district, also known as El Hueco, are saying about the homicide of 18-year-old Manuel González. The sun had not yet risen when, around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the sound of gunshots rang out. As residents came out of their homes heading to work and other places, they saw a man lying on the ground with several visible bullet holes. They immediately called the police, and officers transported the young man, seriously injured, to Santo Tomás Hospital. González was admitted and for seven hours the on-duty doctors fought to keep him alive, but around 11:30 a.m. he was declared dead due to the injuries caused by the three bullets that hit him. One bullet hit him in the right leg, another in the torso, and the last one, which perhaps caused the most damage, hit him in the head. The preliminary investigation details that this was not the first time someone had tried to kill González, as police records reveal that in August of last year, he was shot in another area of the San Miguelito district.
