USS Nimitz and USS Gridley Arrive in Panama

American warships, including the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, visited Panama as part of a regional tour. Deputies and the Mayor of Panama made an official visit aboard the vessel.

The destroyer was docked at the Amador Cruise Port. This is part of the Southern Seas 2026 deployment, which began on March 12 and covers several countries in the region, including the Strait of Magellan. It includes stops in Brazil, Chile, Panama, and Jamaica before concluding on June 20 on the east coast of the United States. Deputies landed on the deck of the vessel and had the opportunity to interact with some of the crew, observe the takeoff of fighter jets from the flight deck, and learn firsthand about the history and operation of one of the most imposing warships in the United States Navy. Deputies José Pérez Barboni, of the Otro Camino Movement, and Roberto Zúñiga, of the Vamos caucus, as well as Mayor Mayer Mizrachi, made an official visit this Saturday to the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which is in Panamanian waters as part of its tour of the region.
