Panamanian authorities reported Thursday the seizure of 240 packages of suspected drugs during an operation in Playa Toro, in the district of Pedasí, Los Santos province. Authorities did not specify the type of drug seized or the total weight of the shipment. According to the authorities’ statement, the drug seizure was carried out in a joint operation between the National Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office and also resulted in the arrest of seven people allegedly linked to the case, including a Colombian national. Generally, packages of illicit substances seized in these types of operations typically weigh approximately one kilogram each, with cocaine being the drug most commonly trafficked via maritime routes through Panama.
