In Panama, a newborn baby girl was rescued after being abandoned by her mother in the woods. The incident occurred on Thursday in the community of Río Sereno, Chiriquí province. According to Major Sindia Henríquez, head of the Subteniente Aurelio Serracín Battalion of the National Border Service (Senafront), thanks to a tip from local residents, the child was found. The infant was discovered in the woods on a farm, covered in blood and with placental remains. The baby was taken to the health center in Río Sereno, where medical staff determined she was in stable condition and was then transferred to the José Domingo Obaldía Maternal and Infant Hospital in the city of David. In connection with this case, the Public Ministry, through the Renacimiento Prosecutor's Office, is conducting an investigation to locate the child's mother so that she can be held accountable for the crime of child abandonment.
