Due to the health risks posed by the large number of abandoned cars on the premises of the Juan Demóstenes Arosemena Normal School in Santiago de Veraguas, Director Yamileth Urriola demands their immediate removal. She also detailed that these cars on the school grounds project a poor image of this important historical heritage. Urriola recalled that the Juan Demóstenes Arosemena Normal School is considered a historical monument, so it is concerning that during past administrations, some areas of the campus were used as a scrap metal dump, a situation that now generates serious problems. According to the director, many of these abandoned vehicles accumulate water, which favors the proliferation of mosquitoes, increasing the risk of diseases such as dengue, which endangers the health of students, teachers, administrative staff, and visitors. “The presence of this scrap metal not only represents a source of pollution and a health risk, but it also affects the image of an institution that is part of the country's historical and cultural heritage,” stated Urriola. The educator indicated that the corresponding management is already underway, and that she will formally communicate the situation to the Regional Directorate of Education and the Government of the province of Veraguas, with the aim that immediate actions are taken to resolve the problem. Finally, she reiterated the call to the competent authorities to assume their responsibility and contribute to the protection, conservation, and good image of the Normal School, thus ensuring a safe and healthy environment for the entire educational community.
