The Guaranties Court of Soná ordered the provisional detention of a 33-year-old man, after the Municipal Prosecutor's Office of the Soná district charged him with gender-based violence, to the detriment of an 87-year-old woman. The accused, a neighbor of the victim, entered her home last November 24 in the Tierra Blanca community, Rodeo Viejo corregimiento, in the Soná district, and physically assaulted the elderly woman, striking her in the face. The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was transferred to a hospital where she remains under medical care. Local authorities have condemned this act of violence, while the investigation continues to clarify the details of the incident.
