The emergency was reported at approximately 7:38 p.m. Upon arriving at the scene, units from the Volcán Fire Station confirmed that the fire was spreading rapidly, fueled by dry vegetation and uneven terrain. The proximity to homes required an immediate response to avoid a tragedy. Faced with the risk, support was activated from the Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama, with volunteer and permanent personnel, in addition to the National Police, which secured the area and maintained a safety perimeter while operations progressed. The operation involved about 25 units, supported by a fire truck, three support vehicles, and manual tools. The Ministry of the Environment also added teams, key to stopping the advance of the fire in an area with combustible material up to a meter and a half high. Thanks to the coordinated work, the flames were diverted and controlled in time, preventing damage to homes and businesses.
