Miller Association meets with the head of MICI. During the meeting, representatives of the Rice Millers Association of Panama met with the Minister of Commerce and Industries (MICI) to discuss the needs and challenges of the rice industry in the country.

Among the main topics addressed in the meeting was the current situation of the rice sector, the trade barriers faced by rice producers, and possible solutions to boost local rice production and trade. The millers expressed their concerns about unfair competition from imported rice and the need for measures that protect domestic producers.

According to one of the representatives of the Association, "it is essential to establish policies that support local rice production and promote its consumption in the national market". They also emphasized the importance of working together with the government to find solutions that benefit all actors in the rice production chain in Panama.

The Minister of MICI committed to analyzing the proposals presented by the Miller Association and to seeking alternatives that contribute to the growth and sustainable development of the rice industry in the country. This meeting was part of a continuous effort to strengthen the dialogue between the private sector and the government in order to promote key sectors of the Panamanian economy.
