Merit-Based Hiring at CSS to Enhance Services

Dino Mon Vásquez, director of CSS, announced that job vacancies will be filled based on merit rather than recommendations, aiming to improve healthcare services.

The General Director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Dino Mon Vásquez, stated that job vacancies in the institution will be filled based on merit and not on any type of recommendations. Before the Plenary of the National Assembly, which was debating the project of Law 163 that reforms the Organic Law of the CSS, Mon Vásquez announced that electronic systems will be implemented to conduct competitions that had not previously taken place in the hiring process of personnel.

"We are about to implement electronic systems that will allow us to conduct competitions that have not been held for hiring personnel,” the director pointed out. Through this mechanism, the aim is to hire the best personnel based on meritocracy, following the example of entities like the Panama Canal Authority (ACP). With this measure, the goal is to ensure that the CSS has suitable employees for each position, guaranteeing efficient management for the benefit of the population seeking health and social security services.

Emphasizing that the patient is the priority at the CSS, Mon Vásquez highlighted the importance of providing good service, which requires having the most qualified and highest-performing personnel. "We are committed to having the best staff to offer the highest level of care to users,” Mon Vásquez detailed.

In summary, the CSS seeks to ensure that job vacancies are awarded through competitions to select the best personnel, with the aim of guaranteeing quality and efficient service for the population that seeks health and social security services.
