The Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS) will implement a 20 percent discount on tuition costs for undergraduate and graduate students starting from the first semester of 2025. The rector, Nicolasa Torreros Barrios, highlighted that this measure aims to benefit higher education and was approved by the Administrative Council.
The 20% discount on the cost of credits, laboratories, practical hours, and other expenses related to tuition will be effectively applied for enrollments in the first and second semesters of the current year. It is important to note that this reduction does not apply retroactively, as clarified by Rector Torreros Barrios.
Additionally, it was emphasized that the discount does not exclude the possibility of payment agreements, according to UDELAS's current policies. On the other hand, it was specified that this reduction will not include students from postgraduate programs, master's degrees, doctorates, diplomas, or other free courses offered at the university.
The decision to grant this discount was made unanimously after a detailed analysis by the Administrative Council, with the aim of promoting quality, equality, equity, and access to higher university education. The main purpose is to align the cost of tuition for undergraduate and graduate students at UDELAS with that of other state universities.
