Rice Producers Protest in Panama

Rice producers in the country have announced a day of protest that will begin on Monday, March 24. These farmers are demanding the necessary support from the government to continue rice production in Panama.

During a press conference, representatives of the rice producers' guild expressed their concern about the lack of government measures that favor the sector. According to them, the massive importation of foreign rice is severely affecting national production, putting thousands of jobs in the field at risk.

One of the protest leaders stated: "We need the government to provide us with the right conditions to compete on equal terms. We cannot allow rice production in Panama to be devastated by the indiscriminate importation of foreign products."

Rice producers have pointed out that if they do not receive a satisfactory response from the authorities, they will continue protest actions indefinitely. They expect the government to address their demands and take measures to protect national rice production and guarantee stability in the country's agricultural sector.
