Citi Praises Panama's Economic Growth Plan

The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, received in his office the global head of corporate banking at Citibank (Citi), Jason Rekate, who praised the economic growth plan structured by the Government of Panama with significant investments in public infrastructure. Rekate highlighted Citi's historical relationship with Panama, dating back to the operation of the interoceanic canal. He stated that this integration agreement will generate great opportunities in the Panamanian market. The meeting was also attended by Malcolm Muñoz, CEO of Citi in Panama, and the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat for Economic Affairs and Competitiveness of the Presidency. Citi praises Panama's economic growth plan and its infrastructure projects. This includes the government's priority projects and those executed by the Panama Canal Authority, such as the construction of two megaports and an interoceanic gas pipeline. The Citi executive also expressed his belief in Panama's potential to become a regional treasury platform for multinational companies. In turn, President Mulino took the opportunity to present some details of the projects his government is developing, highlighting the flagship Panama-David train project, which is currently in the study phase. Rekate also emphasized the opportunities Panama will have by becoming an export platform for Mercosur, a bloc comprising Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
