Tired, worried, and feeling forgotten, this is how residents and transporters living and traveling along the road connecting El Pedregoso de Pesé with the district of Ocú feel. This road has been crying out for help for years, and today many already describe it as "impassable." The situation is so critical that, according to the drivers consulted, the road is practically unused. Traveling this stretch not only poses an accident risk but also a direct hit to the wallet: blown-out tires, damaged shock absorbers, and destroyed suspensions are the daily norm, especially for those who depend on passenger transport or the movement of agricultural products. "The losses are huge, and almost no one wants to pass through here anymore," an affected transporter confessed, explaining that many prefer to detour through Divisa, a longer and more expensive but safer route. To this ordeal is added the visible deterioration of several bridges located along the way, structures that generate fear among users due to their precarious condition. The communities insist that this is a vital route, not only because it connects productive sectors but also because it is the shortest road between Chitré and Ocú. That is why they are urgently calling on the authorities to include it in the 2026 budget, demanding a total rehabilitation that will restore their peace of mind and the dignity of being able to move around without fear.
