Two companies presented their proposals for the construction of the “Expansion of the Coastal Corridor, CPA El Espino–Sajalices and Campana Variant” project, with a reference cost of B/. 265,313,000.00. The project involves expanding a 20-kilometer stretch of the Pan-American Highway from four to six lanes, from El Espino in the district of La Chorrera to Sajalices in Chame. Once work begins, it will involve laying high-durability modified asphalt and relocating public utilities affected by the expansion. After the technical and economic evaluation is completed, the project will be awarded in accordance with the guidelines of the Public Procurement Law. The proposing firms are the I & C Panamá Consortium, made up of Constructora Urbana, S.A. (CUSA) and ININCO, S.A., which presented a bid of B/. 250,000,000.00. The second proposing company was Constructora MECO, S.A., with a proposal of B/. 228,451,693.02. This project also includes the “Campana Variant,” which consists of a viaduct connecting to an interchange located in Sajalices. In addition to the expansion of existing vehicular bridges to ensure traffic capacity and safety, as well as the extension and adaptation of drainage structures.
Two Companies Propose for Panama's Coastal Corridor Expansion Project
Two companies submitted bids for the $265M expansion of Panama's Coastal Corridor, a 20km highway project to be widened from four to six lanes. The project includes a new viaduct and is pending final evaluation.
