Two companies are competing for the expansion of the Corridor of the Beaches in Panama. The project 'Expansion of the Corridor of the Beaches, section CPA El Espino–Sajalices and Campana Variant', with a reference cost of $250,000,000.00, has received two proposals from contractors. The project involves expanding a 20-kilometer stretch of the Pan-American Highway from four to six lanes, from El Espino in the district of La Chorrera to Sajalices in Chame. The bidding companies are: I & C Panama Consortium, formed by Constructora Urbana, S.A. (CUSA) and ININCO, S.A., with an offer of $265,313,000.00, and Constructora MECO, S.A., with an offer of $228,451,693.02. The project also includes the 'Campana Variant', which consists of a viaduct that will connect with an interchange in Sajalices. During the execution of the work, the following will be carried out: Laying of high-durability modified asphalt. Relocation of public services affected by the expansion. Extension and adaptation of drainage structures. Widening of existing vehicle bridges, ensuring greater capacity and road safety. Once the technical and economic evaluation is completed, the project will be awarded according to the guidelines of the Public Procurement Law.
