Panama's Ministry of Social Development announced the resumption of social assistance payments in the hard-to-reach areas of Darién province and the Emberá Wounaan region from December 17-21, 2025.


MIDES resumes payments in hard-to-reach areas of Darién

The Ministry of Social Development (MIDES) informs that payments for the Conditional Cash Transfer Programs (PTMC) in hard-to-reach areas of the Darién province and the Emberá Wounaan region will be made from December 17 to 21, 2025. According to the entity, following the evaluation and authorization of security authorities, and considering the current conditions that allow for the safe movement of personnel by air and water, payment points located in the districts of Camogantí, Río Congo, Paya, Púcuro, Tucutí, Jaqué, Puerto Piña, Yape, Boca de Cupé, Sambú, Taimatí, and Garachiné in the Darién province will be resumed. In the Emberá Wounaan region, the resumption of payments includes the districts of Manuel Ortega, Cirilo Gaynora, Río Sábalo, and Jingurudó.
