The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, on behalf of all Panamanians, received the dividends from the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) for the 2025 fiscal year. The check, for a total of B/.2.965 billion, will enter the National Treasury for the benefit of citizens. The dividends are broken down into B/.2.372 billion as an economic surplus from the operation of the waterway, plus B/.591 million in payment for tonnage rights and B/.2 million for the payment of fees for public services provided by the State. The sum for 2025 represents B/.500 million more than the contributions recorded in 2024. This improvement is due to the increase in the average number of transits through the canal, which rose from 25 daily in 2024 to 33 daily this year. The check was presented to President Mulino by Jaime Anderson, head mechanic with 17 years of service, on behalf of the workforce of the country's most important company and a descendant of Antillean immigrants who came to Panama to build the Canal. "Seeing this here is seeing the Canal on a large scale," expressed President Mulino, who congratulated the workers on their performance. "The dedication of all of you, workers of the Panama Canal, the second generation of canaleros, gives great pride and shows that the succession has indeed occurred and will continue to exist, just as the canal work culture, which is fundamental to the Canal and the country," reiterated the head of state. Accompanying President Mulino at this event were the Minister for Canal Affairs, José Ramón Icaza; the Minister of Economy and Finance, Felipe Chapman; the administrator and deputy administrator of the ACP, Ricaurte Vásquez and Ilya Espino de Marotta, along with the collaborators of the Fleet and Equipment Maintenance Division. The ceremony was held at the facilities of the ACP's Fleet and Equipment Administration and Maintenance Division, in the province of Colón. As part of the main event, the president toured the facilities and spoke with the canal staff.
