Panama's Ministry of Public Security (Minseg) has announced a disbursement of $16.5 million to cover expired obligations and settle debts with suppliers. The request was submitted by the Directorate of Administration and Finance and approved by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. This payout will cover pending payments dating back to 2022, including telecommunications, energy and water services.

The largest payment will go to the Regional Operations Center of Colon, which will transfer $11,475,750 to Cable & Wireless Panama for services accrued from January 2022 to December 2025. Additionally, the National Aeronaval Service will pay $418,968 to Edemet for billing of October and November 2025.

The National Border Service will pay $198,000 for electricity consumption from October to December 2025, while the National Police will cover sanitation, electricity and telecommunications invoices totalling $4,068,799 in 2024 and $1,860,000 in 2025.

With this operation, Minseg aims to ensure the continuity of essential services and prevent interruptions in the country's security functions.
