Panama Launches Student Academic Recovery Program

Starting today, Monday, December 29, the registration process for the 2025 Student Academic Recovery Program (PRAE) begins. The Ministry of Education (Meduca) explained that this program is aimed at middle and high school students who failed up to three subjects during the 2025 school year. The goal is to reinforce learning, correct academic gaps, and prevent these mistakes from leading to school dropout. Registration will be open from December 29 to January 2, a short but decisive period for families seeking a new opportunity for their children within the education system. Regarding the cost, the PRAE will have a value of $7 per subject. Of this amount, $5 will be destined for teacher payment, while the remaining $2 will cover teaching materials, technology, and necessary supplies for class development. Teacher training will take place from December 30 to January 2, while classes will be held from January 5 to February 6, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute sessions. Final evaluations will be applied from February 9 to 11, and the delivery of grades and certifications is scheduled for February 13, thus closing a process that seeks to rescue the effort of those who do not give up on the first try.
