Panama Customs Trains Mining Personnel to Strengthen Export Controls

The personnel of the National Customs Authority (ANA) developed a training session for the physical security team of Minera Panamá, focused on the processes applied for the export of rock material from the mine. The induction concentrated on customs controls and the specific procedures carried out within the Punta Rincón customs area, a key zone for the company's export operations. The training was led by Armando Castillero, head of the Punta Rincón customs area, who explained step-by-step the protocols that must be followed to ensure that each operation is carried out in an orderly, efficient, and transparent manner, from material control to its exit from the country. According to reports, this type of joint work between Customs and Minera Panamá seeks to strengthen the logistics chain and raise security standards in the handling of goods, especially those considered high-value. The mining activity, located in the Omar Torrijos Herrera district in the province of Colón, represents a source of direct employment for hundreds of people, in addition to generating indirect work for suppliers and services linked to this operation. In this context, members of the Colón community have reiterated their call for the reactivation of mining activity, with the proposal to prioritize the hiring of province residents.
