В первую неделю января IFARHU shook the waters with news for students across the country. Educational loans and the General Scholarship Contest 2026, the institution received 139 applications and inquiries for funding at its Educational Credit Directorate, showing that young people and families continue to seek support to continue their studies.
But that's not all: the entity clarified that foreigners with more than 10 years of residence in Panama can also participate in the scholarship contest, as long as they present a certification from the National Migration Service that proves their permanence in the country.
The contest is open to students of primary, pre-media and secondary education, in official and private centers, as well as those who want to study for a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree in official universities.
All participants must comply with the program rules and academic requirements: a minimum average of 4.2/5.0 for primary, pre-media and high school students, and 2.0/3.0 for university students.
Registration for the scholarships will be until January 23, 2026, digitally, on the portal https://www.ifarhuconcurso.gob.pa/. There, applicants complete a form with their personal, academic and socioeconomic data.
IFARHU also detailed the scholarship amounts:
Primary education (from second grade): B/.45.00 monthly. Pre-media: B/.55.00 Secondary: B/.65.00 Bachelor's degree in official universities: B/.125.00 monthly during the career. Postgraduate and master's degrees: covers subjects with credits and net tuition, not including additional services such as insurance or cafeteria.
