Copa Airlines has launched new routes to the Dominican Republic and Brazil, strengthening its network in the region. This week, the airline began operating flights to the city of Puerto Plata, becoming its fourth Dominican destination alongside Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. The new route will operate four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, strengthening access to the country's northeast from the Hub of the Americas. Copa Airlines' CEO, Pedro Heilbron, stated that the start of operations in Puerto Plata will strengthen the company's network in the Caribbean, opening up opportunities to connect northern Dominican Republic with the rest of the continent. Furthermore, the executive highlighted that the initiative facilitates more travelers visiting Panama through the Panama Stopover program, which allows for a stay in the country at no additional airfare cost. The flight from Panama to Puerto Plata is scheduled to depart at 11:26 a.m., with the return flight departing at 3:51 p.m. Additionally, the airline has resumed its connection to Salvador de Bahia in Brazil, effective January 7, 2026. According to Heilbron, this route directly contributes to the development of strategic sectors such as commerce and tourism. As part of its growth strategy in the Dominican Republic, Copa Airlines will also resume flights to Santiago de los Caballeros on January 15, 2026, with three weekly frequencies on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
