Panama's President Discusses Investment Opportunities with DP World

Panama's President José Raúl Mulino met with DP World's Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem in Davos. They discussed investment projects in the country, including megaports and the Colón Free Zone.


During the meeting, Sulayem expressed the group's great interest in establishing itself in Panama, highlighting the country's strategic position in the world, enhanced by the Canal and its services to maritime trade. In turn, President Mulino stated that his government is open to supporting this type of investment interested in settling in Panama. The president of DP World indicated that the company is initially exploring opportunities to operate at both ends of the interoceanic route. He also highlighted other projects carried out by the Panama Canal Authority, which includes two new megaports. At the same time, the Panamanian leader informed the DP World representatives of other points that could be of interest to this business group, such as the Panama-Pacific special area. The meeting took place within the framework of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
