Министр экономики и финансов, Фелипе Чапман, withdrew the document containing the General State Budget for the fiscal year 2025. The decision was made after a technical report prepared by the deputies and the Legislative Budget Commission was revealed.
The report highlighted a significant inconsistency related to the law establishing 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This finding led Minister Chapman and his advisors to carefully review the document submitted by the National Government, as an "inconvenience" was identified that needed to be resolved before initiating budget discussions.
The Cabinet Council, chaired by Хосе Рафаэль Мулино, had approved a budget of 26,084 million balboas for the year 2025, which represented a 15% reduction compared to the previous year's budget.
In a press conference last week, Chapman mentioned that within this budget, 20,530 million dollars were allocated for expenses and 5,554 million were designated for investments.
After leaving the commission, Minister Chapman confirmed that he and his technical team would carefully analyze the observations presented in the deputies' report before proceeding with any further steps.
