The Government of Panama approved an additional supplemental loan of more than 10 million balboas to pay salaries to temporary workers in the health sector. The measure will benefit 1,794 workers nationwide, who have been working on contract since 2020.
The money will be primarily allocated to cover salaries of temporary health personnel, with $8,671,072 assigned for this purpose, and $1,348,352 for Social Security contributions. The beneficiaries are divided into 216 general practitioners, 27 specialist physicians, 813 nursing technicians, and 738 nurses.
The source of funding for these expenses will be the CUT account No. 200804800001 National Treasury General Fund. This allocation is in addition to another loan of $6.3 million that had been previously approved for 1,478 officials, including health technical personnel and administrative staff.
Resolution No. 123-24, approved by the Cabinet Council and led by President José Raúl Mulino, also authorizes the Ministry of Economy and Finance to present this additional loan to the Budget Commission of the National Assembly for its consideration.
