In the Cabinet Council this Friday, the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, has instructed his ministers to contact contractors and suppliers of the State and encourage them to go to the respective institutions to claim their checks. This instruction applies to both public companies and decentralized entities.
The appointed Comptroller General, Anel Flores, reported during the cabinet meeting that there are currently payments endorsed for more than 1,788 million balboas (B/.1,788,243,394.19) that have yet to be collected. These endorsements were made between September 13 and October 24, 2024, distributed across different areas such as the Central Government, public companies, decentralized institutions, private banking, municipalities, financial intermediaries, and other sectors.
It is important to highlight that the sum of more than 1,788 million balboas pending collection is independent of the 877 million balboas allocated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) for the payment of State suppliers, obtained through expenditure containment measures in this year's General State Budget, which will also be paid in 2024.
The National Government emphasizes that suppliers must be up to date with the Social Security Fund and the General Directorate of Income to be able to make their collections. In this regard, they are urged to regularize their situations with these entities as soon as possible.
