Darién Students Stand Out in Ecological Contest

Two students from the Regional University Center of Darién, Hellen Dayan Miranda and Endyi Domínguez, were selected among the six best projects presented in the Plastic Circle Contest, which was part of the Escalation 2024. This significant achievement was made possible thanks to the coordination of professors Edgar López and Narcisa Jaén.

The innovative project devised by Miranda and Domínguez involves the collection of plastic bottles, which are then crushed and used as material for creating ecological blocks and posts. This initiative not only aims to promote the reuse of plastics but also fosters sustainability and the circularity of this material.

The Plastic Circle Contest, supported by UNDP, had as its main objective to find creative and sustainable solutions that contribute to promoting the circularity of plastics, with Miranda and Domínguez's project being a clear example of this. It is gratifying to see how innovation and commitment to the environment can yield such positive and beneficial results for society as a whole.

In short, the outstanding performance of these students in the Plastic Circle Contest is a testament to the talent and creativity that exists at the Regional University Center of Darién. Their project has not only been recognized locally but also stands out for its relevance in the field of sustainability and environmental protection.
