The Communal Board of Bella Vista, in collaboration with the Municipality of Panama and with the support of the Rotary Club of Panama East as the project facilitator, has announced the start of the restoration of the Head of Einstein. This work, created in 1968 by the Panamanian sculptor Carlos Arboleda, has become a cultural symbol of the district.
"The recovery of this heritage piece was one of the first emergencies addressed by the administration of representative César Kiamco," mentioned representative César Kiamco, thanking the support of the community, the Municipality of Panama, and the Rotary Club of Panama East. "We are returning to the city a symbol that belongs to all of us," he added.
The restoration of the iconic Head of Einstein in Bella Vista is made possible thanks to a fundraising campaign led by the Communal Board, donors, and the Municipality of Panama. The project will be led by renowned sculptor and restorer Edgar Urriola Espino, following strict technical criteria that comply with national and international conservation protocols.
The sculpture, which was broken in two due to deterioration from time and exposure to the elements, was temporarily protected while the necessary funds for its restoration were being secured. Work will begin on Monday, February 17, and is expected to last 25 working days, using high-quality materials to ensure its preservation.
"From the beginning of our administration, we committed to recovering the Head of Einstein because it represents the history and culture of Bella Vista," stated representative Kiamco, reaffirming the community's commitment to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the district so that future generations can continue to enjoy it.
