In Puerto Escondido, Colón province, a shootout occurred that was caught on video. The store owner, a merchant of Asian origin, defended himself against an attempted robbery and shot one of the assailants. The assailants shouted at him and pointed their weapons, but the Asian owner drew his own firearm and returned fire. Two criminals who entered the store with pistols and the intention to rob encountered unexpected resistance. A shootout broke out within seconds. In the end, one of the assailants fled the scene while the other had to be transported to a hospital.
