Several trees fell on the road connecting to Costa Abajo in the Gatun Lake area, in the province of Colon, leaving traffic practically paralyzed. One of the trees ended up on top of a sedan and on the power lines, creating a serious risk on the highway. This incident left several communities without electricity until the utility company's personnel arrived on site to restore power. Drivers in the area have asked the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente) to conduct an urgent review to identify diseased trees and prevent future tragedies. In recent days, heavy rains have also been recorded in the towns of Chagres and Donoso, in Costa Abajo, Colon, which has further complicated transportation for residents.
