On the morning of December 25, while many were still celebrating Christmas, units of the Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP) responded to an emergency call at the Panda House restaurant, located in the Marbella area. Upon arrival, personnel from the Carrasquilla and Ricardo Arango stations assessed the situation and confirmed it was a case of a fire that started when a deep fryer suddenly ignited. The fire only affected the immediate area around the equipment, without spreading to other parts of the establishment. Thanks to the quick reaction of the firefighters, the situation was brought under control without complications. No injuries or structural damage were reported, preventing the incident from turning into a tragedy during the festive season. Subsequently, an inspector from the Directorate of Security, Fire Prevention, and Investigation (DINASEPI) conducted a corresponding inspection to rule out any additional risks. After completing the procedure, the units returned to their stations. “It was not a declared fire, but a situation that was handled in time and did not escalate,” explained Captain Yaveth Pérez, head of Extinction, Search, and Rescue of the Panama Regional Zone.
