Netflix announced a series of animation projects coming to its platform in the coming years, including a film starring Natalie Portman and Emilia Clarke in "The Twits," as well as the return of Wallace and Gromit.
At a press event, Emilia Clarke described her character in "The Twits" as a parasite, and Natalie Portman joked about her character, a monkey in the universe created by Dahl. Portman sarcastically mentioned that she plays the mom of a Muggle-Wump, similar to a bug on Mr. Twit's beard.
Directors Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham reunite to bring to life the story of one of the most fearsome penguins in the new film "Wallace & Gromit film - Vengeance Most Fowl." During a presentation, Crossingham shared that the film is a story about technology and its effects on human relationships. Park revealed that 70% of the film is already animated and it is expected to be released in 2025.
Additionally, Netflix is collaborating with Sony Pictures Animation on an animated series based on the "Ghostbusters" franchise and is preparing a film starring Plankton from "SpongeBob," set to premiere in 2025. Also, "Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie" will be released exclusively on Netflix on August 2.
The platform will also bring back Lara Croft in a series titled "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft" and premiere Zack Snyder's "Twilight of the Gods" in October. Other upcoming releases include "Terminator Zero" in August, the second season of "Arcane" in November, the final season of "Big Mouth," and the film "In Your Dreams," scheduled for 2025.
