During the brawl, the aggressor, known as Clemente, pulled out a knife and stabbed Ortega in the left side of the chest. Upon seeing what happened, residents took Ortega to the emergency room of Santo Tomás Hospital in a taxi, where he died around 5:30 a.m. As other residents of Cabo Verde witnessed the incident, they grabbed Clemente and beat him. The man was so badly beaten that he had to seek medical attention at the same hospital where his victim had died. Ortega's relatives, who were in the emergency room, identified Clemente as the killer when they saw him. In 2020, Ortega was arrested for a house robbery in Arraiján, while the aggressor was apprehended in 2023 with an illegal firearm. A brawl between acquaintances in Cabo Verde ended in tragedy. Last night, in the multifamily #4 building in the Curundú area of Cabo Verde, a brawl between acquaintances left one dead and one arrested. The brawl began around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday between 28-year-old Abdiel Alexander Ortega and another 42-year-old man. At about 7:00 a.m., he was apprehended by units of the National Police stationed at the hospital checkpoint. Preliminary information on the case indicates that both the victim and the perpetrator have criminal records.
