Panama Government Announces Carnival 2026 Public Holidays

The Panamanian government has announced the closure of public offices for the 2026 Carnival period. Essential services will remain operational during the holidays scheduled for Monday and Wednesday.


The preamble recalls that Panama's Labor Code establishes that Carnival Tuesday is a mandatory day off. The closure falls in the middle of Carnival. The National Government ordered the closure of public and municipal offices nationwide. Essential services such as the Panama Metro, Migration, Transit, Tocumen, S.A., Customs, and other entities related to basic services, ports, and airports will remain operational. Carnival 2026 runs from Saturday, February 14, to Tuesday, February 17. National level. The decree clearly states that essential services will continue: hospitals, clinics, and polyclinics, IDAAN, security, and emergencies. The closure will be on Monday, February 16, and Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
