Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds were experienced this Monday in several parts of the province of Colón, amid the bad weather prevailing on the Atlantic coast. This Monday, a house lost its roof in the Villa Liriola community in the Cativá district. It was detailed that some communities in Miramar, María Chiquita in the Upper Coast of Colón, the city center, and the route to the Lower Coast of Colón have reported roof detachments. The residents of the house recounted that around 3:00 a.m., they first heard a loud noise, and suddenly the roof blew off in the midst of their desperation to escape the dwelling. On the other hand, it was reported that a banana plant fell on a taxi due to the intense rains in the same population. In this situation, José Murillo, regional director of the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc), informed that a strong breeze, as well as waves and adverse rains, are occurring in the province. He indicated that there is a vigilance advisory that is in effect until February 4, but it may be extended, so monitoring will be maintained and the community will be notified.
