The operation has begun. For this Carnival, the Aeronaval is not going to sit back and has deployed its full force to monitor land, sea, and air during the country's biggest celebration. From February 12 to 18, the operation will put 3,910 units on alert as part of the 'Plan Firmeza,' with a strong presence at points where people gather: 63 beaches, 15 islands, 11 airports, 34 ports, and 9 control posts. The idea is simple and direct: for people to enjoy themselves without fear and return home alive. There will also be eyes on the water and in the sky. Wear a life jacket, check the weather before you go out, bring a radio or a charged cell phone, and no alcohol if you are going to drive a boat or get in the water. During Carnival, a moment of carelessness can be costly. The Aeronaval assures that the operation is not meant to ruin anyone's fun. The Aeronaval will have 18 aircraft and 28 naval assets patrolling both the Pacific and the Caribbean. To these are added boats, patrol boats, jet skis, ambulances, and buses, all ready to respond quickly if anything gets out of control. The message they are sending is clear, without too much nice talk. It is to prevent tragedies and so that Ash Wednesday doesn't start with bad news. Enjoy, but with your head on your shoulders.
