Three students from the Regional Center of the Technological University of Panama (UTP) in Veraguas have been selected to present the advances of a scientific research project at several universities in the United States. This project, which is being developed at this academic institution, will also be shared with researchers from other universities abroad. The student researchers from Veraguas province are working on a project about dust control on unpaved roads, which has had a significant impact within the university community. The proposal, which addresses a recurring problem during the dry season in Panama, sparked the interest of a prestigious higher education institution in the United States, where the young people will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and compete with other student researchers internationally. Professor Aníbal Santos, from UTP, highlighted that the three selected students are from Veraguas province and have generated great admiration within the university community. 'These students have become an example for their peers due to their dedication and commitment to scientific research,' he expressed. In turn, students María Tejedor, Andrea Girón, and Joseth Bozzo expressed their enthusiasm for this important academic achievement. 'We are optimistic and willing to give the best of ourselves in the competitions that will take place in the United States,' they stated. The three students agree that the experience will not only represent professional growth but also an opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge for the benefit of the country. 'Our objective is to bring solutions that can be implemented in Panama, especially in the communities where during the dry season, dirt roads generate large amounts of dust,' they indicated. The project seeks to explore efficient and sustainable alternatives to mitigate the impact of dust on unpaved roads, a situation that affects both the health of residents and road visibility and safety. The participation of these students abroad reaffirms the potential of young Panamanian talent in the scientific field and positions UTP as a breeding ground for research and innovation in the region.
