Tonight, a fire was reported in a building located on Justo Arosemena Avenue, near the National Hospital in Panama. The rapid spread of the fire mobilized several units of the Panama Fire Department, who reported that the incident is now under control and no victims have been reported so far. However, the area remains secured while firefighting and damage assessment efforts continue.
The commander in charge explained that it was necessary to deploy units from various fire stations due to the magnitude of the fire. Three firefighting vehicles, a ladder truck, rapid intervention units, and approximately 20 firefighters from the Permanent Guard are on site, in addition to an ambulance to address any emergencies.
Although the fire has been contained, smoke has affected nearby structures due to the rise of the flames. No structural damage has been reported in nearby premises, but an investigation is underway to determine the causes of the fire.
Authorities emphasize the importance of maintaining prevention and safety measures in buildings, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic and near hospital centers. Efforts have been made to prevent the spread of the fire and to maintain water supply during operations, despite the usual low pressure in that sector.
Drivers and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area to facilitate the work of emergency teams and prevent any disruption in firefighting efforts.
