OMB Continues Support for Malambo Youth

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) recently delivered school supplies and financial aid to children at the San José Malambo Home, enhancing support for youth in need in Panama.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) continues its work of bringing social, educational, and sports benefits to hundreds of children in Panama. This initiative, which began in 2001, aims to provide better opportunities for young people through collaboration with the San José de Malambo Home and various sports centers, such as Tierra de Campeones and Atheyna Bylon on the Cinta Costera.

The president of the WBO, Gustavo Olivieri, along with former president Francisco "Paco" Valcárcel, visited Panama to uphold their commitment to support the San José Malambo School, which hosts children in situations of social risk, abandonment, and diseases such as HIV. Valcárcel expressed that it is work that endures over time and is a legacy not only for him but also for the new president.

During the visit, backpacks with school supplies were delivered to about 50 children and adolescents at Tierra de Campeones, in addition to a check for $5,000.00 to the Malambo Home. Gustavo Olivieri highlighted the importance of continuing to support these initiatives due to the needs of young people and expressed his admiration for the sports facilities in the city of Panama.

The vice president of the WBO, Rolando Marco-Hermoso, reaffirmed the organization's commitment to social causes that seek to steer children away from drugs and bad paths. The WBO has played a significant role in the training of Panamanian world champions, and its president Olivieri aims to establish new ties in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean in preparation for the World Convention to be held in Bogotá, Colombia in October.

In the words of Valcárcel: "As always fulfilling this work, even if I am not the president," the WBO demonstrates its commitment to the Panamanian community and youth by providing both educational and sports support.
