The Council of Ministers approved the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to carry out, through an exceptional procedure, a contract for the "Comprehensive specialized service for health and environmental protection through the proper management of hospital waste, the supply of inputs, and the remodeling of infrastructure in health facilities nationwide". The contract between Minsa and the company Construcciones, Limpiezas y Equipo, S.A. is for a total amount of twenty million four hundred and forty balboas and aims for the proper management of hazardous hospital waste for 12 months, which is essential for health and environmental protection. This follows the participation of 5 companies with their offers, which include collection, handling, and final disposal, choosing the most economical proposal in the two delimited areas. According to the Cabinet Resolution, this component represents a critical area within the public health system, so it is necessary to keep it updated, considering that inadequate disposal of waste poses serious risks to human health, the environment, and the safety of communities. It is highlighted that Minsa considers the execution of this service a priority to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant management. The contracting is based on numeral 5 of article 79 of the Unique Text of Law 22 of 2006, ordered by Law 153 of 2020, which regulates Public Contracting, and article 83 of the Unique Text of Law 22 of June 27, 2006.
