Panama's Social Security Fund has opened a new 24/7 emergency room at Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital in Colón. The new facility can handle up to 11,700 patients monthly and is equipped with modern technology.

The Social Security Fund (CSS) announced the opening of the fourth emergency room at Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital, located in the corregimiento of Cristóbal Este, on the outskirts of the city of Colón. The service has been operational since 6:00 a.m. this Thursday, December 4, 2025, and will guarantee 24/7 medical care, 365 days a year, for the region's population. According to the CSS, the new emergency room is designed to offer comprehensive and high-capacity care, featuring: 22 observation beds, 12 newborn bassinets, 6 beds in the shock and trauma area, 8 beds for minor trauma, and 8 isolation beds. All of this is accompanied by modern equipment such as ultrasound machines, electrocardiographs, and monitors, among others. It is estimated that the new facility can serve an average of 11,700 patients per month. The people of Colón hope that the staff and the quality of medical care will be substantially improved, directly benefiting the population of Colón.
