Transfer of Patients to New Colón Hospital

Panama — A total of 98 hospitalized patients were transferred this Friday from the old Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital to the new medical facilities in Colón, located in Coco Solo, in the Cristóbal Este district.

The transfer was carried out as part of a coordinated operation involving staff from the Social Security Fund (CSS), security agencies, the Transit and Land Transport Authority (ATTT), the Colón Free Trade Zone, and the 911 Unified Emergency Management System.

Dino Mon, General Director of the CSS, informed that, as promised, the opening of this hospital began this Friday. He stated that “the new hospital has double the number of beds than the old Amador Guerrero, which will allow us to expand our capacity and offer the services that the population of Colón deserves.”

Similarly, Marlin Cedeño, National Director of Health Services for the CSS, explained that a meticulous logistics plan was executed to transfer all patients to the new hospital, an infrastructure ceded by the Ministry of Health to the CSS for its operation to benefit the population of Colón.

“The emergency room has been operational since yesterday, with services in the operating room, where an emergency surgery was even performed and a patient in a critical condition was attended to,” she expressed.

She commented that this hospital offers a wide range of services: surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, neonatology, wound care, and all services typical of a second-level hospital, “but with a higher level of complexity”.
