According to the Ministry of Health, during epidemiological week 50 (from December 7 to 13) a total of 15,657 confirmed cases were recorded nationwide. Of these, 13,880 were non‑alarm, 1,670 had alarm signs, and 107 were severe.

The Metropolitan Region tops the list with 4,779 cases, followed by San Miguelito with 2,727, Panama West with 1,646, Panama North with 1,481, and other regions. In 2024 there were nearly 32,000 cases, indicating a significant reduction.

The most affected age group is 25 to 49, but the most vulnerable are 10 to 14 years old. Symptoms include high fever, headache, muscle pain, and eye pain. The Ministry stresses community participation to eliminate breeding sites and control the vector.

The public is advised against self‑medication and to seek medical centers. Residents should dispose of containers that can hold water and keep the surroundings of their homes clean.
