Panama - A 28-year-old man is alive by a miracle after nearly drowning this Sunday while swimming at Las Lajas beach, located in the province of Chiriquí. According to confirmation from the National System of Civil Protection (Sinaproc), the swimmer, a resident of Boquete, experienced fatigue and loss of strength in both arms when he was behind the breakwater, fighting the current. Fortunately, lifeguards spotted him in time and managed to rescue him before he drowned. Paramedics who were at the beach attended to the citizen, stabilized him, and then transferred him to a nearby medical center, where he remains with stable vital signs and under observation, without complications. This beach, which is very popular with residents and visitors from other provinces, has quite strong waves, so it maintains professional lifeguard surveillance. Sinaproc reiterated the call to the public to follow safety recommendations on beaches, stay attentive to sea conditions, and promptly request assistance in any emergency by calling 911 or 520-4426.
