The regional administration of Los Santos conducted an inspection operation in the district of Las Tablas, resulting in the removal of merchandise that posed a risk to public health.

During a preventive inspection prior to the Parade of a Thousand Polleras, the Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco), through its Regional Administration in Los Santos, seized 1,338 expired products.

Following institutional protocols, all seized merchandise will be transferred to the municipal landfill for final destruction.

The regional administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintain constant supervision, based on Law 45 of 2007, which regulates consumer protection in the national territory.

These products were found for sale in commercial establishments, posing a potential risk to the health of residents and the thousands of tourists who gather for this folkloric event.

Roberto Montenegro, regional administrator of Acodeco in Los Santos, issued a strong call to economic agents to strictly comply with current regulations.

The official urged merchants to conduct thorough reviews of their inventories, check expiration dates, and keep prices visible to the public.

According to Montenegro, non-compliance with these provisions can result in economic sanctions of up to B/.25,000.00, depending on the severity of the detected violation.

Inspections, concentrated in various establishments in the district of Las Tablas, resulted in the removal of a wide range of expired products, including food, beverages, pet items, as well as products for hygiene and personal care.

These operations are intensified especially during high commercial and tourist seasons to safeguard the rights of users.

Finally, the institution reminded the public that they can report any irregularity anonymously through the Institutional Information and Complaint System (Sindi).
