Man Drowns in Cobre River in Panama

In Veraguas province, Panama, a 25-year-old man drowned in the Cobre River due to a sudden rise in water levels. Rescuers found the body at the bottom of the river. This is the second drowning case in the province this year.


Man Drowns in Cobre River in Panama

A 25-year-old man drowned in the Cobre River, at the sector known as "Charco Negro", in the community of Cerro Negro, district of Las Palmas, province of Veraguas. The young man, from the capital city, had gone to the river to fish with relatives, but suddenly, the water level rose due to constant rains in the province, and he disappeared. Units of the National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc), after receiving the emergency call, sent divers to the scene accompanied by search and rescue units, who located the victim at the bottom of the river. After recovering the body, personnel from the Public Ministry carried out the recovery procedure and transported it to the nearest morgue, where an autopsy will be performed to determine that he died by immersion. This is the second case of death by immersion recorded in the province of Veraguas so far in 2026.
