Doctor Arrested in Medical Negligence Case in Panama

A doctor implicated in a case of medical negligence in 2021, while working at the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital in the province of West Panama, was apprehended by the National Police (PN). This group of doctors was already charged at the request of the Section for Crimes against Life and Personal Integrity and Crimes against Freedom of West Panama for the crime of negligent homicide. In this case of alleged medical negligence that occurred in February 2021, a woman died who had been admitted to the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital. According to investigations being carried out by the Public Ministry (MP), the doctor is allegedly involved in the commission of a crime against life and personal integrity, in the form of negligent homicide. Another five doctors who worked at the same hospital remain under precautionary measures of suspension of their medical duties, as they are implicated in another case of medical malpractice that occurred in April 2021. The 35-year-old doctor was arrested in the Bella Vista district, province of Panama. The hearings for this case, in which a woman died, were held between December 2025 and January 2026.
