Two Men Detained for Domestic Violence in Panama

In Panama, two men have been arrested for domestic violence. One attacked his partner with a weapon, while the other assaulted his parents. Investigations reveal these are not their first violent incidents.

In San Miguelito, two citizens aged 56 and 36 will be provisionally detained for the crime of domestic violence, while the Family Section of the Regional Prosecutor's Office of that district investigates two separate incidents recorded in the province of Panama. Due to the injuries sustained by the victims, they were declared unfit for work for more than five days, the Public Ministry detailed, adding that the investigations show that 'this is not the first time that a violent episode like this has occurred.' According to the Public Ministry, the Superior Court legalized the apprehension and charges were filed for an incident that occurred on January 13, 2026, at the victims' residence in El Palmar. The 56-year-old citizen is linked to an incident recorded on January 18, 2026, in the district of Arnulfo Arias, when he assaulted his partner with a bladed weapon and threatened to kill her. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old is linked to a case that occurred on January 18, 2026, in the district of Omar Torrijos, when he physically assaulted and harassed his partner with death threats. In Chiriquí, a precautionary measure of provisional detention was decreed against a man for the alleged crime of domestic violence against his parents, reported the Public Ministry. It turns out that the alleged aggressor entered his parents' home, who are the victims, and threatened and physically assaulted them. It was reported that at the request of the Prosecutor's Office, the Guarantee Court decreed the legalization of the apprehensions and the charges against these two men.
