These actions have made it possible to detect irregularities that pose a risk to the health and economy of the population. In the district of Chitré, province of Herrera, the authority located 315 expired products in two commercial establishments. Similarly, in La Villa de Los Santos, officials identified more than 100 expired products that remained on public sale. Confiscations and administrative procedures Following safety protocols, the items were confiscated for subsequent destruction. Among the detected merchandise were beers, soft drinks, snacks, sausages, sunscreens, and personal hygiene items. In turn, the responsible economic agents were notified with acts for the presentation of their defenses, in accordance with the procedures established in Law 45 of 2007. Metrology verification in Chiriquí Parallel to product inspections, Acodeco in the province of Chiriquí carried out technical verifications on high-capacity scales. At the CADASA facilities, located in Alanje, the tests resulted in no anomalies, confirming exact weight measurements. Likewise, in the Barú sector, the industrial scales of the extractor EBASA in Manaca Civil and the extractor ICCTSA in Progreso were inspected. The authority reported that it will continue to monitor that businesses comply with current regulations, specifically in the following points: • Display of prices visible to the public. • Concordance between the marked price and the one charged at the checkout. • Optimal condition of the products intended for consumption. • Truthfulness and clarity in advertising and promotions offered. The institution reiterated that these operations will remain active throughout the Panamanian territory to safeguard consumer rights during the festive period.
